Panthers get seventh rounder for Beason

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman on Tuesday revealed that the Panthers got a seventh-round draft pick for linebacker Jon Beason.

Beason was traded to the New York Giants after the third game. It worked out for both sides.

Beason wasn't happy in his new role as a backup outside linebacker for Carolina. He brought some spark to the New York defense in his return to middle linebacker. The Giants went from 26th in the league when Beason arrived to eighth by the end of the season.

Carolina now has a pick in all seven rounds.

Staff intact: Carolina coach Ron Rivera doesn't expect to lose any of his staff during the offseason.
