The Carolina Panthers are popular in Las Vegas these days -- to take a big fall.
Carolina's win total projection is over/under 8.5 wins. That's 3.5 fewer wins than the Panthers had a year ago when they were 12-4 and NFC South champions. That's one of the biggest drops in the league.
According to RJ Bell of Pregame.com, bettors feel the Panthers "got a little lucky'' last season. That, plus the loss of their top four wide receivers, the retirement of left tackle Jordan Gross and the loss of three-fourths of their secondary translates into a big fall.
The good news for Carolina is there are only eight teams projected with a better than 8.5 over/under. Only the Broncos, Seahawks, Patriots, 49ers and Packers are projected in double figures.
That's called parity.
And if you want to look on the bright side, the over/under win total for the Panthers last season was 7.0 and they won 12 games.
If you took the under, you took a big fall.
