Panthers sign TE Mike McNeill to futures contract

SEATTLE -- The Carolina Panthers signed tight end Mike McNeill to a 2015 futures contract, the team announced on Saturday.

McNeil (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) signed as a free agent with Carolina in March, but was waived/injured on August 30. McNeil suffered a severely sprained knee in a preseason game against Buffalo.

The futures contract means McNeil will be on the roster at the start of the new NFL year in March. His last full season in the NFL came in 2013 with the St. Louis Rams.
