CHICAGO -- The Cleveland Browns closed the gap statistically on the Chicago Bears, but that’s about it in somewhat of an uneventful third quarter here at Soldier Field that saw the score remain 17-7 in favor of the Bears.
The most significant development occurring in the quarter came when rookie safety Chris Conte suffered what the club is calling a head injury, before coming out of the game. Conte’s condition wasn’t immediately known. But if he suffered a concussion, his availability for the Sept. 11 regular-season opener against the Atlanta Falcons could be in jeopardy.
By the end of the third quarter, the Bears had gained 18 first downs to the Browns 11, and held the advantage in net yardage 218 to 171.
