GM Emery won't rule out 'Hard Knocks'

Chicago Bears first-year general manager Phil Emery said Monday he would rather his team not be featured on HBO’s NFL reality series “Hard Knocks,” but he would not rule it out.

“To me, it’s all about football,” Emery said. “Personally, no, but if that was in the best interest of the club, I’m sure we would all consider it. If that helped bring the Chicago Bears, particularly to our fans in Chicago, we would consider it.”

A Bears spokesman said the team has not been asked.

The series, which follows a team in training camp and the preseason, is still looking for a club to feature in its seventh season after the Atlanta Falcons declined an offer, deciding it would be too big of a distraction, ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas reported.

While the show did not air last year because of the NFL lockout, the last installment featuring the New York Jets, was one of its most popular for the unabashed transparency of the team and its head coach Rex Ryan.

A league source told ESPN that the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers are being considered for this season. The Jets or Jacksonville Jaguars might also return.
