LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte did not practice on Wednesday as he continues to be sidelined with a right ankle sprain he sustained in the third quarter of last week's 23-10 defeat to the Green Bay Packers.
Forte was present on the practice field but declined to speak with reporters at the conclusion of the workout. His status for Sunday's home game versus the St. Louis Rams is unknown.
"Matt Forte is making progress," Bears head coach Lovie Smith said.
Veteran defensive end Julius Peppers was also held out due to a sore foot.
Middle linebacker Brian Urlacher was dressed in full pads and did participate in Wednesday's workout.
