Lovie: Bears still evaulating Jeffery's injury

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Coach Lovie Smith said Monday the Chicago Bears are still evaluating the hand injury wide receiver Alshon Jeffery suffered during Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jeffery sat out a bulk of the fourth quarter on Sunday, but he remained on the Bears' sideline after getting his right hand bandaged by the team's training staff. He had two receptions for 20 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

"Injury-wise, Alshon Jeffery hurt his hand," Smith said Monday. "We're continuing to evaluate it to see where he is."

The Bears enter their bye week and don't play again until Oct. 22 when they host the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.

Smith also believes wide receiver Earl Bennett (hand) and tight end Evan Rodriguez (knee) will be active when they play the Lions.

"We should get some other players back," Smith said. "Earl Bennett and Evan Rodriguez and guys like that should be good to go next time we play."
