Bears extend Mannelly through 2013

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears signed long snapper Patrick Mannelly to a one-year contract extension on Monday.

The 37-year-old Mannelly, who holds the franchise record for games played (230), is now signed through the 2013 season which will be his 14th with the Bears. He is the only player from his 1998 NFL draft class still playing.

"I'm extremely pleased we were able to reach a one-year extension with Patrick Mannelly," Bears general manager Phil Emery said in a statement. "He epitomizes what we're looking for in a Chicago Bear: excellence in performance and great leadership."
