Second-period wrap: Hawks 4, Thrashers 4

ATLANTA -- The Chicago Blackhawks and the Atlanta Thrashers are tied 4-4 after the second period at Philips Arena.

The teams have combined to score five power-play goals, including three by the Thrashers, in a back-and-forth affair.

Struggling Blackhawks Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane have come alive in the game. Both have two goals, while Toews has points on all the Hawks’ tallies. Kane added an assist on a Toews’ goal as well.

Kane’s last goal tied the game after Toews hustled behind the Thrashers’ net to steal the puck from goalie Ondrej Pavelec. Toews kicked it to Kane, who had an easy time finishing.

The Thrashers took a 3-2 lead in the period after scoring twice in 0:55, but the Hawks responded.

Former Hawks Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, and Andrew Ladd all have points in the game.

The teams have combined for 50 shots through two periods.
