Second period recap: Hawks 3, Avs 0

The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Colorado Avalanche 3-0 after two periods at the United Center.

The Hawks are playing a crisp game in taking the play to Colorado. They have spent little time in their own zone and when they’ve been in there, the Avalanche haven’t had more than one opportunity per sequence.

The Hawks added to a 2-0 first intermission lead when Dave Bolland found Fernando Pisani streaking to the net with a step on his defender. Pisani punched in his seventh goal of the season.

Bolland had a goal in the first period while Troy Brouwer has the other tally. Corey Crawford hasn’t given up a goal in his last 104:18 of playing time.

The third period will be 22:07 after glass behind the Colorado net was broken with 2:07 remaining in the second. Instead of replacing the glass and continuing, the referees decided to end the period and add the time to the third.
