Second-period wrap: Blackhawks 3, Ducks 0

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 after two periods at the United Center.

The Hawks added to a 1-0 first intermission lead when Marian Hossa grabbed a turnover in the offensive zone and slammed home a backhand shot that squeaked by goalie Jonas Hiller. Then late in the period Dave Bolland scored on a power-play tally as he flew in from the point for the score. The play was initiated by Ray Emery who earned a point on the play as did Nick Leddy who carried the puck in deep before finding Bolland.

The second period got chippy as John Scott fought for the first time this season easily winning a bout against Sheldon Brookbank, then later, Jamal Mayers came to the aid of Marcus Kruger but took a roughing penalty as a result.

Scott had an assist on a first-period score by Mayers as the Hawks’ fourth line has played a factor in the game.

Bolland looked like he had another Hawks’ goal but it was waved off for goalie interference though no penalty was called on the play.
