First-period wrap: Hawks 0, Canadiens 0

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens are scoreless after the first period at the United Center.

Neither team pressured the opposing goaltender very much in the opening 20 minutes though Duncan Keith did hit the post on one shot attempt.

Corey Crawford made a couple of nice saves in his first period of game action since December 5 but the Canadians never sustained an offensive presence in the period. They earned a late power play attempt after a Viktor Stalberg hooking call but Montreal didn’t create much of a threat with the man advantage.
