1st-period wrap: Blues 1, Blackhawks 0

The Chicago Blackhawks trailed the St. Louis Blues 1-0 after the first period at the United Center on Sunday.

Andy McDonald scored with under a minute to play in the period when goalie Corey Crawford and defenseman Nick Leddy couldn’t corral the puck in the crease.

The Blues dominated the opening 20 minutes, outshooting the Hawks 14-4. The home team went 15:15 without a shot, getting their fourth with just 6.4 seconds left in the period. The Hawks offense was stagnant, including the power play, which is 0-for-27 over the last 10 games.

The Hawks got outworked and played it fancy on offense, making it an easy period for Blues goalie Brian Elliott.
