CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks trailed the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 after two periods at the United Center on Sunday.
The Hawks tied the game in the middle 20 minutes with a Marcus Kruger goal on a rebound of a Patrick Sharp shot. It came after some poor puck management by the Kings in the neutral zone.
But the Kings retook the lead after the Hawks couldn’t control a puck behind their net. Duncan Keith was ridden off the play and the Hawks didn’t cover Jeff Carter, who was in front for the goal.
The Hawks have slowly played better throughout the night. After getting down 1-0 and being outshot 14-4 at one point in the first period, they took some momentum after they scored only to give it back late in the period.
