Second-period wrap: Hawks 1, Blues 1

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues are tied 1-1 after two periods at the United Center.

There was no scoring in the middle 20 minutes but the Hawks controlled the play in the second half of the period. Patrick Sharp, Andrew Shaw and Patrick Kane all had good looks with Kane hitting the goalpost on one chance. That pressure led to a Hawks power play but they couldn’t convert making it 15 straight attempts without a goal.

The Hawks killed off two St. Louis power plays in the second as St. Louis has just 11 shots on net through 40 minutes.

Bryan Bickell and Alex Steen tallied nine seconds apart in the first period as the lone goals scored in the game.
