1st-period wrap: Wild 2, Hawks 1

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks trailed the Minnesota Wild 2-1 after the first period at the United Center on Sunday.

Minnesota struck first when Devin Setoguchi burst by Niklas Hjalmarsson into the offensive zone after receiving a pass from Dany Heatley. Ray Emery made the initial save, but Setoguchi banged at the puck a couple times and it squirted in.

The Hawks tied the game 34 seconds later when Patrick Sharp finished a nice rush by Nick Leddy for his 33rd goal of the season. It was Leddy’s 33rd assist of the year as well.

The Wild retook the lead on a power-play goal by Heatley as he stood untouched in the slot, where Mikko Koivu found him for an easy tap-in.

The game took a chippy turn when Heatley slashed Patrick Kane in the left arm or wrist but no call was made. On the next shift, Brandon Bollig came on the ice and had words with Heatley before fighting Clayton Stoner. Previously, Jimmy Hayes dropped the gloves with Justin Falk. Then Andrew Shaw was given a 10-minute misconduct penalty after some pre-faceoff issues with Darroll Powe.
