Jeremy Morin gets chance vs. Red Wings

DETROIT -- Chicago Blackhawks rookie Jeremy Morin was in the lineup against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.

“He’s been productive (in Rockford),” Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Sunday morning. “I think offensively lately he’s been scoring at a nice rate. He gives some energy as well. He’s earned the opportunity.”

Morin, who has a career-best 49 points in 59 games this season with the IceHogs, will be playing in his 13th career game with Chicago.

“He’s been up here before, he knows what it takes and what is needed,” Quenneville said. “So it’s kind of a reward at the same time we get a look.”

Forwards Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp didn’t make the trip to Detroit.

Quenneville didn’t know if Hossa or Sharp would be available for Monday’s home game against the Nashville Predators.

“We’ll see,” Quenneville said. “We’re just going to say we’ll see in the morning.”

Corey Crawford started in net against Detroit.

Sheldon Brookbank, Jamal Mayers and Brandon Bollig were scratched from the Blackhawks lineup.

The Wings’ Henrik Zetterberg was a last-minute scratch. According to Wings general manager Ken Holland, Zetterberg has a lower-body injury and day-to-day.
