Prospects watch: Raanta makes debut

Here’s a look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks' prospects are faring throughout the world:

Antti Raanta, goaltender, Rockford IceHogs (AHL)

Raanta, a free-agent signing last season, bounced back from his recent leg injury and played in his first full game for the IceHogs on Friday. He stopped 20-of-22 shots in a 5-2 win over the Lake Erie Monster. He played in his second game on Saturday and made 31 saves on 35 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Monster.

Ryan Hartman, forward, Plymouth Whalers (OHL)

Hartman, the Blackhawks’ 2013 first-round pick, has been on a tear to start the OHL season. He had six goals and five assists in 11 games. He had two assists in the Whaler’s 4-2 win over the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday.

Travis Brown, defenseman, Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL)

Brown, a 2012 fifth-round pick, has had the hottest start among the Blackhawks’ prospects. He has three goals and 12 assists through 10 games for the Warriors. He had one goal and three assists in two games over the weekend.

Brandon Whitney, goaltender, Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)

Whitney, a 2012 seventh-round pick, has a 6-4 record, 2.72 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 10 games for the Tigres. He recorded his first shutout of the season in a 31-save performance against the Shawinigan Cataractes on Friday.

Teuvo Teravainen, forward, Jokerit (SM-liiga in Finland)

Teravainen, a 2012 first-round pick, has gotten off to a slow start this season. He has one goal and one assist through nine games for Jokerit.

Alex Broadhurst, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL)

Broadhurst, a 2011 seventh-round pick, has accumulated four points, including three assists, in the IceHogs’ first four games. He had two assists in a win over the Lake Erie Monster on Friday.

Anthony Louis, forward, Miami Ohio (Freshman)

Louis, a 2013 sixth-round pick, tallied his first college goal and assist last weekend against Ohio State.

Adam Clendening, defenseman, Rockford IceHogs (AHL)

Clendening, a 2011 second-round pick, shares the IceHogs’ team lead with four points.

Matt Tomkins, goaltender, Ohio State (Freshman)

Tomkins, a 2012 seventh-round pick, started his first collegiate game and made 32 saves in a 6-3 loss to Miami of Ohio on Saturday.

Tyler Motte, forward, Michigan (Freshman)

Motte, a 2013 fourth-round pick, scored his first college goal in a 7-2 win over RIT on Saturday.

Drew LeBlanc, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL)

LeBlanc, a free-agent signing last season, scored his first two professional goals in the IceHogs’ 5-2 win over the Lake Erie Monser on Friday. He also had an assist on the season.

Vince Hinostroza, forward, Notre Dame (Freshman)

Hinostroza, a 2012 sixth-round pick, record his first college goal and assist in a 4-0 win over Western Michigan on Friday.

Chris Calnan, forward, Boston College (Freshman)

Calnan, a 2012 third-round pick, tallied his first college goal and assist in a 7-2 win over Rensselaer on Sunday.

Kevin Hayes, forward, Boston College (Senior)

Hayes, a 2010 first-round pick, had one goal and two assists in Boston College’s 7-2 win over Rensselaer on Sunday.

Justin Holl, defenseman, Minnesota (Senior)

Holl, a 2010 second-round pick, had two assists and a plus-2 rating in a 3-2 win over New Hampshire on Saturday. He had the primary assist on two of the goals.

Jeremy Morin, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL)

Morin, who was acquired in a trade in 2010, has apparently remained motivated after being among the Blackhawks’ final training camp cuts. He leads the IceHogs with 13 shots on goal. He had one goal and two assists through four games.
