Hawks assign Nordstrom to IceHogs

The Chicago Blackhawks assigned rookie forward Joakim Nordstrom to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Nordstrom was one of the major surprises to make the team out of training camp and appeared in the Blackhawks’ first eight games. He had one goal, a plus-1 rating and averaged 10:42 of ice time this season. He scored his first NHL goal against the New York Islanders on Oct. 11.

Nordstrom was selected by the Blackhawks in the third round of 2010 draft. He played 11 games with the IceHogs last season and previously played in the Swedish Elite League.

The Blackhawks did not make a corresponding move.
