Michal Rozsival, defenseman, Czech Republic
The Czech Republic advanced to the quarterfinals with a 5-3 win over Slovakia on Tuesday. Rozsival had one shot on goal, a minus-one rating and played 19 shifts and 13:23 of ice time. The Czech Republic plays Team USA in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
Marian Hossa, forward, Slovakia
Slovakia was eliminated with a 5-3 loss to the Czech Republic on Tuesday. Hossa scored two of Slovakia’s three goals. He trimmed Slovakia’s deficit to 4-1 with a second-period goal and to 4-2 with a third-period goal. He had two goals, five shots on goal, a plus-two rating and 18:41 of ice time. He finished the tournament with two goals, one assist, four penalty minutes, 13 shots on goal and an average of 19:26 in ice time in four games.
Michal Handzus, forward, Slovakia
Handzus had the secondary assist on both of Hossa’s goals Tuesday. Handzus had two assists and a plus-two rating in the loss. He won 16-of-28 faceoffs and led the team’s forwards with 21:19 of ice time. He finished the tournament with two assists, four shots on goal, a plus-one rating and averaged 20 minutes of ice time in four games.
