Regin misses skate, expected to play

CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Peter Regin did not participate in the team’s morning skate on Thursday, but he is expected to play against the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville.

“He should be fine tonight,” Quenneville said. “He’s just resting right now.”

Regin, who was acquired from the New York Islanders on Feb. 6, has one goal and a zero rating in three games for the Blackhawks this season. He has played center on the second and third lines since joining the team. He was replaced by defenseman Michal Rozsival on the third line during the morning skate. The Blackhawks currently have only 12 healthy forwards on their roster with Marian Hossa suffering a recent injury.

The Blackhawks are 36-13-14 with 86 points and are in second place in the Central entering play on Thursday night.
