Michal Handzus, Forward

2013-14 cap hit: $1,000,000 | Age: 37 | Season stats: 4 goals, 12 assists, plus/minus-0

Season recap: The addition of Handzus was beneficial during the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup run in 2013, but he couldn't duplicate that play when they brought him back this season. His age especially showed while playing alongside Patrick Kane on the second line. His role and ice time was drastically cut in the playoffs. He did help shore up the penalty kill.

Season highlight: Handzus scored the game-winning goal in double-overtime to defeat the Los Angeles Kings in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals.

Season lowlight: Handzus played a season-low 4:28 during Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.

Final grade: C-.

Inside the numbers: Handzus was on the ice for 15 of the Blackhawks' goals in the playoffs in 2013 and just three this season.

Notes: Handzus played in his 1,000th career NHL game on March 19.

Quotes: "Obviously the best time," Handzus said about being with the Blackhawks after the season. "When you win a Cup somewhere, it's obviously special and it's always going to be special in my heart. Best group of guys I've been with for my career. It's a great group. I think it's a special group. A lot of fun last year and a lot of fun this year, too."

What's next: Handzus' time with the Blackhawks is up although he did express an interest in continuing his career for at least one more season.
