Season recap: Saad avoided a sophomore slump for the most part and took another step in his young career. He also responded after being a healthy scratch late in the season and was at his best late in the playoffs.

Season highlight: Saad was dominant for much of the Western Conference finals. He had four goals and five assists in the series.

Season lowlight: Saad was a healthy scratch against the St. Louis Blues on April 6. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said he was looking for more from Saad.

Final grade: B+.

Inside the numbers: Saad had 11 multi-point games in the regular season. Those 11 games accounted for 24 of his 47 total points.

Notes: Saad finished sixth on the team with 47 points. He set career-highs in goals and assists.

Quotes: "We definitely like what he brings," Quenneville on Saad after the season. "We like the ability of him in tight puck areas to have kind of an explosion in a way where you can get some separation of coverage. He's dangerous with the puck, play recognition high end. ... Consistency this year was something that going forward in his third year, I think the upside's huge."

What’s next: A contract extension for Saad is on the Blackhawks' agenda after re-signing Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Saad will become a restricted free agent after the 2014-15 season. He can be expected to play alongside Kane to start next season after their playoff success together.
