Hossa makes trip to Denver

DENVER, Colo. -- After leaving the game early in the second period with what Joel Quenneville described as "nothing serious," Chicago Blackhawks right winger Marian Hossa made the trip to Colorado in advance of Friday’s matchup against the Avalanche.

  • I spoke with Dustin Byfuglien’s agent on Thursday. He said they have not heard from the league regarding any further punishment for Byfuglien after he whacked Andy McDonald of the St. Louis Blues in the back of the head in the closing minute of the game. Byfuglien received a major penalty as well as a game misconduct. The league would have to rule before Friday’s game against Colorado. Its unlikely he will be suspended.

  • There is no word on who will start in goal against the Avalanche as of late Thursday. If Cristobal Huet was to get another start, this might be the situation for him. But with the No.1 seed on the line this weekend, Quenneville might just go with his No. 1 goaltender. Also, no word on whether Troy Brouwer will join the team here in Denver after missing the past two games.
