Kirk Hinrich suffers right hip strain

CHICAGO -- Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich suffered a right hip strain in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and his return was questionable, according to a team spokesperson.

Hinrich was 0-for-4 from the field with three assists and one foul in 10:47 before he left the game. He is averaging 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists this season.

Hinrich also endured a strained groin in the preseason and missed the final preseason game.

Hinrich was acquired in the offseason to start at point guard until Derrick Rose returns from his ACL injury.

Hinrich has had injury troubles in the past. He had left shoulder surgery last season and missed the first 18 games with the Atlanta Hawks. During his first stint with the Bulls, he missed 31 games after having surgery on his right thumb during the 2008-09 season.

Bulls backup point guard Nate Robinson started the second half on Saturday.
