Rapid Reaction: Bulls 96, Cavs 81

CHICAGO -- Let's take a quick look at how the Chicago Bulls earned a 96-81 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night at the United Center.

How it happened: Derrick Rose scored 16 points and had seven assists as the Bulls took control of this one late. Carlos Boozer added 17 points and seven rebounds while Luol Deng chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds.

What it means: This game was supposed be a showdown between Rose and Kyrie Irving -- but this game was just ugly for most of the night. Rose and Irving struggled to find a rhythm and the Bulls struggled to score. What pulled Tom Thibodeau's team through on this night was the fact Chicago's defense remained intact. The Bulls made plays when they had to down the stretch -- but the issue for Chicago going forward is the fact that Rose appeared to tweak something late in the game and came out in favor of Kirk Hinrich with just a few minutes left. He was checked out by the team's medical staff and never returned to the game.

Hits: Mike Dunleavy had 15 points off the bench for the Bulls and played some crunch-time minutes. Easily the best performance in his short Bulls career.

Misses: Kirk Hinrich and Deng were a combined 4-for-18 from the field.

Stat of the night: The Cavs turned the ball over 20 times.

What's next: The Bulls take on the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.
