McCamey state's lone pick for USBWA team

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association released its All-District Teams on Tuesday, and Illinois junior guard Demetri McCamey was the state’s lone selection.

The District V team, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, was made up of Xavier’s Jordan Crawford, Notre Dame’s Luke Harangody, Buter’s Gordon Hayward, Wisconsin’s Trevon Hughes, Purdue’s Robbie Hummel, Purdue’s JaJuan Johnson, Michigan State’s Kalin Lucas, Illinois’ Demetri McCamey, Purdue’s E’Twaun Moore and Ohio State’s Evan Turner. The player of the year was Turner and coach of the year Purdue’s Matt Painter.

My ballot was slightly different. I voted for Crawford, Harangody, Hayward, Lucas, McCamey, Moore and Turner, but also for Marquette’s Lazar Hayward, Northwestern’s John Shurna and Western Michigan’s David Cool. I also voted for Xavier’s Chris Mack as coach of the year.
