Malvern Prep (Pa.) Class of 2012 defensive lineman Connor Mahoney has committed to Northwestern.
Mahoney, who is 6-3 and 270 pounds, chose the Wildcats over offers from Missouri, Tulane and a number of Ivy League schools.
“Northwestern is getting in Connor Mahoney one all-around, real good football player,” Malvern Prep coach Kevin Pellegrini said. “He truly excels on both sides of the ball, as he is very strong at the point of attack, and has feet as good as most tight ends. You can see how much he loves the game of football through the passion he shows on the field.
“He has been a three-year starter for us and is a real leader amongst his teammates. He is a good person off the field as well, so it is great to see that he ended up at such a great place like Northwestern. He is really impressed with the school, its academics, Big Ten football, and especially the entire coaching staff.”
Northwestern has eight Class of 2012 commitments.
