If Ramirez went through with the plan, he will be unable to play for at least three days, as the medication works into the shoulder. Ramirez initially dislocated his shoulder on May 8, afterwards missing eight weeks.
Surgery to tighten up the shoulder capsule is almost a certainty after the season. If the shoulder doesn't respond to the cortisone shot, Ramirez may consult with doctor about pushing up the surgery schedule.
Full recovery from this type of procedure is normally 4-5 months.
Update 4:35: Ramirez received the cortisone shot.
