MESA, Ariz. -- Injured pitcher Matt Garza is scheduled to begin throwing again Thursday.
Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Garza did well in his evaluation by the team's medical staff on Wednesday and if he feels well on Thursday morning he will play throw soft toss from 90 feet.
Garza sustained a strain under his left shoulder and left side while throwing in drills on Feb. 17 and has been inactive since. He worked all winter on rehabbing his right elbow, which he injured last season. The injury kept him out for the season's final two months.
