Currently operating with 13 pitchers, the Cubs are looking for more position-player flexibility before they begin an upcoming six-week run in American League parks.
After Monday’s off day, the Cubs play three games at Milwaukee before heading to Seattle and Oakland for a pair of three-game series. They will have one more game at an AL park on July 8 when they travel across town to face the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field in a makeup game for a May 28 rainout.
“I think obviously we’ll talk about it today after batting practice and after the game,” manager Dale Sveum said. “But the way we talked the other day, we will have something done by Tuesday going into Milwaukee.”
