Series preview: Cubs at Brewers

MILWAUKEE -- The Chicago Cubs take on the Milwaukee Brewers for three games this weekend in the final leg of their 10-game road trip. They're 3-4 in the first seven games.

Friday: Travis Wood (5-4, 4.35) vs. Marco Estrada (4-2, 3.98), 7:10 p.m. CT

Saturday: Jason Hammel (5-3, 3.08) vs Wily Peralta (4-4, 2.12), 3:10 p.m. CT

Sunday: Jeff Samardzija (1-4, 1.68) vs. Kyle Lohse (6-1, 2.92), 1:10 p.m. CT

The offense: The Cubs haven't scored a run over their last 20 innings coming off back-to-back shutouts against the San Francisco Giants. The last time the Cubs were shut out in three straight games was in early 1992 when they were blanked in four straight.

Road woes: The Cubs are 0-10-3 in their last 13 road series dating back to last season. Their last road series win was in Cincinnati Sept. 9-11 when they took two of three from the Reds.

Friday's Game: Travis Wood will try to become the fourth Cubs pitcher in 20 seasons to record five wins in the month of May.

Wright returns: Reliever Wesley Wright is back with the team after the birth of his daughter, Harlem Rose, on Tuesday. Pitcher Blake Parker was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Who's Hot/Who's Not: Anthony Rizzo is tied for the league lead in walks (20) for the month of May and continues to hit lefties (.315) overall. He's been on-base 10 times over the past seven games. ... Leadoff man Emilio Bonifacio is 3-for-23 (.130) with three walks on the road trip. He was 0-for-6 in the two shutouts against the Giants on Tuesday and Wednesday. Starlin Castro is 4-for-27 (.148) on the trip and Mike Olt is 1-for-18 (.056).
