Wells, Cashner to DL; Stevens recalled

The Chicago Cubs placed pitchers Andrew Cashner and Randy Wells on the 15-day disabled list and recalled pitcher Jeff Stevens from Triple-A Iowa.

Pitcher Casey Coleman is expected to be recalled and activated sometime this weekend and should start Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Cashner is out with a right right rotator cuff strain, and Wells has a right forearm strain. Neither will touch a baseball for two weeks, and Cubs manager Mike Quade said he is not counting on either pitcher for three to four weeks.

Stevens, 27, has pitched parts of the past two seasons with the Cubs, posting a 6.11 ERA in 18 games last season.
