LOS ANGELES -- The Chicago Cubs' Jeff Baker started in right field on Wednesday, his first outfield start of the season. He has been rehabbing a sore left shoulder and been unavailable the past two games.
Manager Mike Quade recently talked about using Baker in the outfield against left-handers, and acted on it Wednesday against Dodgers starter Ted Lilly.
"We talked earlier in the year about how that scenario was not out of the question," Quade said. "You know what, we'll see how it goes. I'm glad to have his bat in the lineup."
Baker, who was 1 for 3 before being lifted for Tyler Colvin in the seventh inning, has four career starts in the outfield.
