Quick take: Red Sox 15, Cubs 5

BOSTON -- A quick look at the Chicago Cubs' 15-5 series-opening loss to the Boston Red Sox on Friday night at Fenway Park.

The good: The Cubs offense put up 12 hits. Third baseman Jeff Baker had his second four-hit game of the season. He’s now 20-for-39 against left-handed pitchers. Outfielder Reed Johnson had two more hits, including a two-run double. DH Aramis Ramirez had three hits.

The bad: Hmmmm… where do you begin? Cubs starter Doug Davis went 3 2/3 innings allowing eight hits and seven runs. The Cubs played a sloppy game, getting charged with four errors though they may have committed more.

Beyond the box score: Tickets for this series were being scalped for anywhere from $500-800 apiece. Also, manager Mike Quade may need to call up another reliever from Triple-A after using James Russell and Jeff Samardzija.

Up next: Carlos Zambrano (4-2) faces Alfredo Aceves (1-0) on Saturday night.
