Rapid Reaction: Cubs 4, Phillies 3

Here's a quick look at the Cubs' 4-3 win over the Phillies in 11 innings on Thursday night.

The good: Tyler Colvin broke an 0-for-33 slump with what appeared to be the go-ahead homer in the ninth inning, but after a lengthy meeting between umps the play was ruled a ground-rule double. On the previous at-bat, Geovany Soto went deep to tie the game at 3-3. SS Starlin Castro comes off a day’s rest looking great at the plate. He hit the ball hard three times. He had a single, double, walk, RBI and scored a run.

The bad: The Cubs’ offense failed to do much against starter Kyle Kendrick and six relief pitchers.

Outside the box: Centerfielder Reed Johnson and Second baseman Jeff Baker hit first and second for the Iowa Cubs on Thursday night. Both rehabbing players went 0-for-2 in a game suspended due to weather after four innings.

Next: A potential can’t-miss game will feature Carlos Zambrano (5-2) against Philadelphia’s Roy Halladay (8-3).
