CHICAGO -- Theo Epstein's indoctrination into Cubdom didn't come during his introductory news conference Tuesday morning. It came about an hour after he wrapped his time with the media as he walked out to the famous Wrigley Field marquee for a photo op.

It was at that moment he heard an unfamiliar voice which he will undoubtedly hear over and over again during his time in Chicago.

"Theo Woo! Theo Woo! Theo Woo!" piped noted Cubs fan Ronnie "Woo Woo" Wickers.

As Epstein walked out from the barricades of the old ballpark, "Woo Woo" approached for a handshake and then for a hug.

"I've heard a lot about you," Epstein said as cameras clicked away at the not-so chance encounter between the new Cubs king and the team's most ever-present fan.

The fact that Epstein had already been briefed on "Woo Woo" shouldn't be much of a surprise considering the Cubs super fan is such a staple around the ballpark. It should come as a welcome point of reference for fans wondering how long it will take Epstein to learn what being a Cub really means. Being the new president in Wrigley doesn't just mean putting a good ballclub on the field. It also means dealing with all the fans and the expectations this job brings on a daily basis.

On Day 1, Epstein passed his first few tests with flying colors. Just ask Woo Woo.
