Dempster: Everything is going to be fine

Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster played the role of amateur psychologist Thursday, counselling Cubs fans who are panicking after an 0-2 start.

"Everything is going to be just fine guys, I promise," Dempster said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "There's a pretty good chance we we'll have a two-game losing streak at some point this season again."

It's up to Randy Wells to make sure the skid doesn't reach three games on Thursday in the series finale against the Atlanta Braves.

Dempster said there's an easy way to calm fans who are seeing some of the same problems they witnessed last season, including an ineffective bullpen. Dempster left with a 2-1 lead Wednesday after throwing six strong innings, but the pen surrendered two in the eighth -- on a Chipper Jones home run -- in a 3-2 loss.
