Julian senior Dae’Shaun Hurley has committed to Ball State.
Hurley starred as a quarterback for Julian, but he was recruited as a safety by Ball State. He had also received an offer from Northern Illinois.
Hurley threw for 1,718 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games this season. He sat out the season’s first five games while the Public League decided his eligibility. He had attended Morgan Park as a junior.
“He’s a smart athlete who can play multiple positions,” Julian coach Jason Richardson said. “He was recruited as a safety, but he can play receiver or quarterback. It’s a matter of how they want to use him.”
Ball State has 20 Class of 2012 recruits.
