WWS up to No. 18 in national rankings

Illinois’ high school football season may have finished a few weeks ago, but Wheaton Warrenville South continues to rise in the national rankings.

The undefeated Class 7A state champ Tigers moved up two spots to No. 18 in ESPN RISE’S POWERADE FAB 50 rankings this week, after two top-20 teams lost in their states’ playoffs.

Regionally, Wheaton Warrenville South (14-0) will finish No. 2 in the Midwest. St. Edward of Lakewood, Ohio finished its season at 15-0 and is ranked No. 1.

Rockford Boylan, which won the 6A state championship, is No. 13 in the Midwest, Class 7A state runner-up Lake Zurich is No. 16, and Class 8A state champion Maine South is No. 17.
