Not only will the state be watching as No. 1 Bolingbrook and No. 2 Whitney Young square off Friday in the Class 4A semifinals, but so will the nation's high school girls basketball community.
On Wednesday, ESPN RISE's newest POWERADE FAB 50 included both programs in the nation's top 10 for the first time since the season's fourth week. Bolingbrook (26-2) remained at No. 4, and the Dolphins (27-2) moved up one spot to No. 10.
Bolingbrook and Whitney Young have met in the last three Class 4A state championships. Whitney Young won in 2008, and Bolingbrook has taken the last two.
Bolingbrook's losses this season are to the nation's top two ranked teams -- No. 1 Brea Olina (Calif.) and Mater Dei (Calif.). Whitney Young lost to No. 34 Inkster (Mich.) and unranked Memphis Central (Tenn.).
Montini (34-1) also moved up two spots to No. 39 in the FAB 50. The Broncos, who are ranked No. 3 in ESPNChicago's area poll, is shooting for their second consecutive Class 3A state title this weekend. Montini's only loss this season was to Whitney Young.
