St. Charles North junior guard Quinten Payne has committed to Loyola.
Payne, a 6-4 shooting guard, chose the Ramblers over Colorado State, Davidson, Georgia Tech, Miami-Ohio, Ohio and Stanford.
Payne is the younger brother of Loyola point guard Cully Payne, who transferred to the Ramblers from Iowa after last season.
"I made my decision on everything else, but he was just a big addition to it," Payne said of his brother. "I've been playing out my options and what was best for me, and I decided Loyola was best for me. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was the way they recruited me, the way they made me feel like a part of the family, the way they made me feel like their No. 1 recruit."
Payne and Cully have never played on the same team together because they've always been four years apart. At Loyola, they'll have one season and possible two to play together. Cully is petitioning to the NCAA for another year of eligibility.
Payne could have waited to make his decision after another high school and club season, but he knew Loyola was the right place for him now.
"I'm not a big-name guy whether it's the Big Ten, ACC," said Payne, who averaged 17 points last season. "I personally feel like if you have the right team and the right personnel and the coaches have love for you, you can be successful anywhere. Look at Butler, VCU, any of them. I'm super happy where I'm at, and I think in the end it'll be perfect."
Payne is Loyola's first Class of 2013 commitment.
