CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox didn’t appear to be a home-run hitting team as of a week ago, but that perception has quickly changed.
After recording 40 home runs in their first 40 games, the White Sox have now hit 14 of them in their past five games. The icing on the cake was a five home-run performance on Thursday with five different players going deep.
The White Sox now rank seventh in baseball with 54 home runs. The Baltimore Orioles lead the majors with 69 home runs.
“I think when it warms up it’s just easier to hit,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said prior to Friday’s game with the Cleveland Indians. “Guys feel better. It’s a lot of work put in, and it starts paying off and guys get a little bit more confident. Go to the plate and keep it going.”
Here’s a look at the White Sox’s lineup against Indians starter Jeanmar Gomez (3-2, 3.12) for Friday:

2. Gordon Beckham – 2B
