Youngsters buoying White Sox

Veteran players have undoubtedly factored in the Chicago White Sox’s success this season.

The White Sox wouldn’t be sitting atop the American League Central if it weren’t for Paul Konerko, Jake Peavy, A.J. Pierzynski, Adam Dunn, Kevin Youkilis, Alex Rios, among others.

But at the same time, it’s impossible to ignore what the White Sox’s less experienced players, especially rookies, have contributed to this year’s team. There are currently 10 rookies on the White Sox’s 25-man roster, and no other first-place team has played as many rookies as the White Sox have this season.

On Wednesday, Pedro Hernandez will become the 11th rookie used by the White Sox this season when he makes his major league debut as the team’s starter against the Boston Red Sox.

Here’s a look at the White Sox’s lineup against the Red Sox for Wednesday:

1. Alejandro De Aza, CF

2. Kevin Youkilis, 3B

3. Adam Dunn, DH

4. Paul Konerko, 1B

5. Alex Rios, RF
