Rapid Reaction: Royals 9, White Sox 4

A quick look at the Chicago White Sox's 9-4 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Saturday night at Kauffman Stadium.

How it happened: Adam Dunn hit his 400th career homer and Paul Konerko homered for the second straight night, but it wasn’t enough for the White Sox. Jake Peavy allowed five runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out six. The Royals put the game away in the eighth, scoring four times off reliever Brett Myers. Mike Moustakas had four RBIs for the Royals and Billy Butler had three.

What it means: The White Sox lost their fourth straight game to the Royals and are just 4-7 against them this season.

Outside the box: Peavy is 3-8 in his last 12 starts and his loss on Saturday was his sixth straight dropped decision against the Royals in his last seven starts.

Up next: The Sox’s Jose Quintana (5-2, 2.77 ERA) takes the hill against the Royals’ Jeremy Guthrie (2-3, 4.02) in the series finale Sunday. Game time is 1:10 CT.
