Sox go for rare sweep of Yanks

CHICAGO -- The New York Yankees have given the Chicago White Sox trouble throughout time.

The White Sox are 237 games under .500 against the Yankees. The White Sox have won 806 games and lost to 1,043 games to the Yankees.

This year has been a different story.

The White Sox clinched the season’s series with a win over the Yankees on Tuesday. It was the first time the White Sox accomplished that since 2003.

And if the White Sox were to defeat the Yankees on Wednesday and sweep them, that would be an even larger feat. The White Sox last swept the Yankees in Chicago in 1991.

“Not a lot of teams sweep the Yankees,” White Sox slugger Adam Dunn said prior to Wednesday’s game. “Twenty-one years, would be pretty cool, though.”

Here’s the White Sox’s lineup against the Yankees on Wednesday:

1. Dewayne Wise, CF

2. Kevin Youkilis, 3B

3. Adam Dunn, 1B

4. Paul Konerko, DH

5. Alex Rios, RF

6. A.J. Pierzynski, C

7. Dayan Viciedo, LF

8. Alexei Ramirez, SS

9. Gordon Beckham, 2B
