Sox look to give Peavy run support

CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy could use some love from his hitters when he takes the mound Friday against the Seattle Mariners.

The White Sox have scored two or fewer runs in seven of the 12 games Peavy has started since June 13. They’ve scored more than four runs once in that span. He’s gone 3-8 with a 3.37 ERA in his last 12 starts.

For the season, Peavy is 9-9 with a 3.11 ERA.

“He’s pitched well enough to have a lot more wins,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. “We haven’t scored a lot of runs in the games he’s pitched. That is unfair to put that on him. He’d probably have five or six more wins if we scored some more runs for him.”

Here’s the White Sox’s lineup against the Mariners on Friday:

1. Dewayne Wise, CF

2. Kevin Youkilis, 3B

3. Adam Dunn, DH

4. Paul Konerko, 1B

5. Alex Rios, RF

6. A.J. Pierzynski, C

7. Dayan Viciedo, LF

8. Alexei Ramirez, SS

9. Gordon Beckham, 2B
