Sox finally gain a game on Tigers

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers have been nearly in step for much of the last two weeks.

The two teams recorded the same result on seven of the nine days they both played from Aug. 13-Aug. 24. Both teams won on Aug. 14, 15, 21 and 22 and lost on Aug. 13, 18 and 19.

The only days they recorded different results were Aug. 17 (Tigers win, White loss) and Friday (White Sox win, Tigers loss). Friday was the first time since Aug. 12 the White Sox were able to gain a full game on the Tigers.

The White Sox head into Saturday’s game with the Mariners with a 2 ½-game lead on the Tigers in the American League Central. The Tigers face the Los Angeles Angels again on Saturday night.
