Pierzynski, Ventura ejected vs. M's

CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski and manager Robin Ventura were ejected by home-plate umpire Lance Barrett after arguing ball and strikes in the third inning on Saturday.

Pierzynski began arguing with Barrett after Jose Quintana’s first pitch to Justin Smoak was called a ball in the third inning. Pierzynski was quickly ejected by Barrett, and Ventura raced out of the dugout to also disagree with Barrett. Ventura was also ejected and continued arguing until he was escorted off the field by crew chief Jim Joyce.

It was the third time Ventura has been ejected from a game this season. The last one was against the Toronto Blue Jays on July. 8.

Pierzynski has been ejected six times in his career. His last one came against the Tampa Bay Rays on April 20, 2011.

Tyler Flowers replaced Pierzynski at catcher.
