Ramirez exits game with cramping in leg

DETROIT -- The Chicago White Sox lost starting shortstop Alexei Ramirez for the rest of their game against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday because of cramping in his right leg.

Sox manager Robin Ventura said after the game that Ramirez is day to day.

The injury occurred in the top of the sixth as Ramirez was running out a bloop single to right field.

Ramirez held the back of his right hamstring as he got close to first base before slumping over after calling timeout.

He was assisted off the field and replaced by Brent Morel.

That led to the shifting of the White Sox's infield, as Morel came in to play first, Jeff Keppinger moved from first to second and Gordon Beckham went from second to shortstop.
